4-H Youth Venture

Youth Venture believes that every young person has the ability to improve their community.   Have a solution to a problem in your community?  Want to start a club or business?  We're here to help make your community-benefiting idea a reality.

Youth Venture helps to empower young people by providing coaching, resources, and seed funding for young people ages 12-20 to create, launch, and lead sustainable community-benefiting organizations. A Venture can be any youth-created, youth-led organization designed to provide a positive lasting benefit in a school, neighborhood, or large community. We strive to reach and support any young person nationwide who has a dream about how to make a difference, and the dedication to make it happen. We provide access to a variety of resources including: a national network of like-minded young people, media opportunities and up to $1,000 in seed capital needed to launch their organizations. By inspiring and investing in teams of young people to start their own social Ventures, Youth Venture is working to build a powerful network of young social entrepreneurs.

4-H Youth Ventures are designed to build on the strengths and interests of young people, resulting in these change makers having a unique sense of ownership and long-term involvement.

In this world of accelerating change, isn't the most important gift a parent or society can offer our young citizens to encourage them to become powerful changemakers. Inevitably, they will master the critical life skills of empathy, teamwork, and leadership while young - and carry those wonderful traits into adulthood.

In order to start a Venture and to apply for 4-H Youth Venture funding, teams must complete and submit one 4-H Youth Venture Action Plan.  Teams may choose to complete either the computer format or the written format. The Action Plans are available to download in Microsoft Word and Adobe Acrobat format.

4-H Youth Venture Workshops

If you are interested in creating a 4-H Youth Venture, join the New England Youth Venture Team for a fun & highly interactive day long Dream It. Do It. Workshop in your county. You’ll be guided in how to link your interests, talents, and passions with ideas and opportunities for helping your school or community — by launching your own community-benefiting 4-H Youth Venture!

Selection Panels

A Selection Panel evaluates your Venture idea based on YV Selection Criteria which can be found on our website.

Selection Panels consist of 3 – 4 community members who believe in the vision and mission of Youth Venture.
