Oxbow Farm Apple Orchard
North Country orchardist James Eich recommends crop insurance coverage.
When asked how crop insurance fits into planning for risk, Jim said, "We had it for three or four years before we had our first and only claim and it saved our lives that year.... it's been a good relationship. Even if you've never had a (loss) experience, I would carry crop insurance."
Video: Watch James Eich as he talks about his three acre farm. He produces apples on an acre and a half. The varieties include McIntosh, Cortland, Honey Crisp and Macoun. Also grown are the lesser-know heirloom types such as Wolf River, Crimson Crisp and Crimson Topaz.
