Community Programs

Barrington (2000)

The Barrington NROC program started with the Dealing with Growth in Barrington presentation in March, 2000. Note: At the time of the Barrington NROC program, the NROC follow-up program was not in place. Instead, the community applied for NHEP grant funds to develop an Open Space, Recreation and Town Center Plan (described below)

  Action Groups:

  • Open Space, Recreation and Town Center Plan
  Action Group Activities:
Open Space, Recreation and Town Center Plan

  • Used the survey results and inventories to develop a plan that maximized the TownÂ’s natural resources with integration of community facilities in a central location.
  • Inventoried points of local interest, open space areas and current recreational facilities. SRPC generated maps to display the inventory data.
  • With SRPC assistance, developed and implemented a survey of residents to elicit their opinions about open space, recreation, a town center and commercial development.
  • Contracted with Strafford Regional Planning Commission (SRPC) to help develop the Plan.

NROC Community Implementation Project Grant Funds
