Nottingham (2003)

The Nottingham NROC program started with the Dealing with Growth in Nottingham presentation in October, 2003. Over the course of the next few months, Nottingham-NROC participants identified goals, and formed Action Groups to develop and implement specific actions to achieve their natural resources protection goals. These activities are described below.

  Action Group Activities:
  Ground Water Protection

  • Plan to use the information gathered from the survey for discussions and in decisions made as Nottingham deals with issues of water resources and population growth.

  • Intend to adopt the survey results as part of the Master Plan of Nottingham.

  • Developed a display poster with narrative, maps, and graphs, along with copies of the draft Results and Summative Document of the Nottingham Water Well Survey, November 2004, for display at the 2005 Town Meeting.

  • Conducted the well survey in Nottingham to determine water supply and quality issues that may exist, and to educate residents about ground water issues. The survey resulted in a 30% response rate.

  • Worked with NROC staff and Candia-NROC participants to develop a survey of well owners in each community.

  • Attended the NROC educational workshop session, Ground Water Protection Strategies, held jointly with the Candia-NROC group, to address priority issues of ground water supply in both communities. Presenters included representatives from the NH Geological Survey, and the NH Coastal Program.
