The East Kingston NROC program started with the Dealing with Growth in East Kingston presentation in June, 2004. Over the course of the next few months, East Kingston-NROC participants identified goals, and formed Action Groups to develop and implement specific actions to achieve their natural resources protection goals. These activities are described below. |

Update natural resources inventory |
|
| |
- Successfully applied to the UNH Senior Projects course for assistance with completing their Natural Resources Inventory. Students added new developments onto a color aerial photograph base map using GIS, and analyzed and interpreted information on the NH Fish & Game Wildlife Habitat maps for East Kingston.

Master Plan/Zoning/ordinance updates |
|
| |
- NROC staff reviewed the East Kingston Cluster Housing Ordinance, and made recommendations to improve the ordinance. The Planning Board proposed revisions to the ordinance based on this review.
- The Planning Board applied for and received an $800 Targeted Block Grant to review and revise the Master Plan Vision Statement in 2005.

Promote community agriculture |

- Completed the worksheet Is Your Town Farm Friendly? from the publication Preserving Rural Character through Agriculture, and wrote up the results for press releases.

Land conservation education and outreach |

- Organized and hosted a Land Conservation and Estate Planning workshop for landowners (20 attendees), presented by NROC staff and others.
- Attended the NROC workshop, Developing an Effective Education & Outreach Strategy.
