Marilyn Sullivan provides informal education and programs in the areas of family finance and food safety.

The family finance programs help adults, teens, and youth improve their money management skills, increase financial knowledge, and enhance their financial decision-making skills.

In the food safety area, Marilyn teaches food service personnel and consumers how to handle food safely and reduce the risk of food borne illness. She also presents workshops on making healthy food choices.

Biography

Marilyn Sullivan provides informal education and programs in the areas of family finance and food safety. She works with individuals and families, and engages in collaborative efforts with community groups, senior centers, businesses, school personnel, and human service agencies to solve critical issues affecting children, youth, families, and communities She has been with UNH Cooperative Extension in Merrimack County since 1992.

The family finance programs help adults, teens, and youth improve their money management skills, increase financial knowledge, and enhance their financial decision-making skills. Through workshops, publications, and learn-at-home opportunities, participants learn strategies to reduce debt and increase savings.

In the food safety area, Marilyn teaches food service personnel and consumers how to handle food safely and reduce the risk of food borne illness. She also presents workshops on making healthy food choices

Programs include: Taking Charge of Your Finances, Making Money Work For You, Investing For Your Future, New Hampshire Saves, PowerPay Debt Repayment Analysis, Credit Check Up, Don't Get Crushed by Debt, Legal Issues: Are You Prepared?, The Road to Financial Security in Later Life, Getting A Grip On Your Money, Grandma's Yellow Pie Plate (for the distribution of non-titled personal property), Identity Theft, High School Financial Planning Program, and Project CASH (Creating A Savings Habit) for college students.
  • Food safety education for consumers for home use and food preservation.
  • Food service workers training. Programs include: Safety Awareness in the Food Environment (SAFE) for food service employees, and food safety certification through the SERVSAFE program for food service managers.
  • Healthier lifestyle choices for individuals regarding nutrition, physical activity and wellness. Program: Making Lifestyle Changes and Healthier Choices.
