Information on Chickens
If you and your family are thinking of keeping chickens in order to have a supply of fresh meat and eggs, check out our new series of fact sheets on small flock poultry management.

Backyard Homesteading Chicken Processing Workshop
Saturday, June 16, 2012 (Two classes: 8:00 AM - 10:00 AM or 11:00 AM - 1:00 PM) at a farm in Chichester (directions given in a follow-up letter at the end of May, after you register).
Cost: $50.00 (the cost of one live chicken) (couples may share a chicken or each pay for a chicken). Pre-registration - online - and a $35 non-refundable deposit is required as space is strictly limited. The $15.00 balance is due on the day of the workshop. Youth may participate with written permission of parent or legal guardian. Participants will learn best practices for care and processing of chickens for the backyard or small farm. The workshop will be operating under an approved protocol from the UNH Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee.
