Rockingham County, State, and National 4-H Awards
Rockingham County 4-H Head, Heart, Hands, and Health Awards (ages 8-18)

These four Rockingham County 4-H Awards are presented at Rockingham County 4-H Recognition Night, and get their name and spirit from each of the four H's (Head, Heart, Hands, and Health). Anyone can nominate a youth, including him/herself. To receive one of these awards, a youth must be nominated by someone and/or submit a 4-H record. (If a youth submits a record, he/she will automatically be in the running for one of these awards. If a youth is nominated for one of these awards, he/she does not need to submit a record.)

Rockingham County 4-H Head Award
Please nominate a maximum of one person for each of these awards and please do not nominate a single youth for more than one award.
Rockingham County 4-H Heart Award
Please nominate a maximum of one person for each of these awards and please do not nominate a single youth for more than one award.
Rockingham County 4-H Hands Award
Please nominate a maximum of one person for each of these awards and please do not nominate a single youth for more than one award.
Rockingham County 4-H Health Award

Rockingham County 4-H Project Medal (ages 11-18)
These medals are awarded at Rockingham County 4-H Recognition Night for specific project areas (such as shooting sports, gardening, communication arts, equine, sheep, etc.). The youth must have been involved in the project for at least two years, and must submit a 4-H record as well as an application form.

Rockingham County 4-H Certificate of Continued Achievement (ages 11-18)
These certificates are given at Rockingham County 4-H Recognition Night for continued work in specific project areas (such as shooting sports, gardening, communication arts, equine, sheep, etc.). The youth must have been working in the project area for at least one year since receiving a county medal in that area, and must submit a 4-H record, including the appropriate project page(s) along with an application form.

Rockingham County Junior 4-H’er of the Year Award (ages 12 & 13)

This award is presented at Rockingham County 4-H Recognition Night in celebration of a 4-H member who has an impressive record of achievement, but who is not yet old enough to apply for a State Achievement Award or a trip to the National 4-H Congress or National 4-H Conference. Anyone can nominate a youth, including him/herself. To receive this award a youth must be nominated by someone and/or submit a 4-H record. (If a youth submits a record, he/she will automatically be in the running for one of these awards. If a youth is nominated for one of these awards, he/she does not need to submit a record.)

Rockingham County 4-H Dare Mighty Things Award (ages 17 & 18)
This award is given at Rockingham County 4-H Recognition Night to highlight an older 4-H member who is moving on from the program. The award gets its name from a famous quote from a former US President, Theodore Roosevelt.

State and National 4-H Awards (ages 14-18)
These awards include the State Achievement Award, and trips to National 4-H Conference and National 4-H Congress. These are great opportunities for senior 4-H members that involve submitting a resume, an application, and going through an interviewing process at both the County and State Levels (a learning experience in itself!).
