Family and Consumer Resources - Claudia Boozer-Blasco and Karyn Blass, Extension Educators
The Family and Consumer Resources program provides information and assistance to strengthen families,
individuals and communities. We work with a diverse group of individuals including adults of all ages, families, consumers, child care providers, and food service workers. Education is provided through individual contacts, group programs, newsletters, publications, web sites, and media outlets. We work closely with family resource centers, schools, youth organizations, non-profit organizations, community and volunteer groups, and food service businesses.
Some of the educational areas include:
- Strengthening parenting skills
- Enhancing single parenting and co-parenting skills
- Money management and consumer issues – youth and adults
- Managing credit and debt
- Impact of media on children, youth, and families
- Financial Security In Later Life
- Impact of advertising and commercialism on debt and savings
- Healthy development of girls/boys
- Increasing wellness and healthy lifestyles
- Food safety for consumers
- Training food service workers to help reduce foodborne hazards
- Food Safety Certification Training
