4-H Youth Development
The 4-H Youth Development Program in Strafford County provides a diversity of opportunities for youth and adult volunteers to make a difference in their lives and that of their communities.Lynn Garland, Extension Educator Emeritus- for 4-H Youth Development in Strafford County, helps young people acquire valuable knowledge and life skills through participation in local, county, state, and national programs. We are flexible in offering many opportunities for youth and family participation, including 4-H project based Clubs, 4-H After school programs, Operation Military Kids-an outreach to military youth and families, Kids on the Block puppets-a program that uses puppets to teach K-2nd grade about diversity as well as other enrichment programs that foster positive youth development.
The 4-H Youth Development Program seeks to build strong families, competent young people and caring communities. Through a committed network of volunteers, 4-H offers youth the opportunities to explore personal interests, develop life skills and become involved in communities. Ask us about joining the 4-H team, as a member or volunteer leader.
In addition, 4-H staff offer training and assistance in:
- Positive youth development for youth ages 5-18.

- Community youth leadership and citizenship programs.
- Developmentally appropriate experiential youth programming for 5-18 years old.
