Forestry & Wildlife Resources

Strafford County has approximately 136,387 acres of forestland of which 90%is privately owned. These forest lands benefit all residents of the county and state by providing clean air and water, wildlife habitat, renewable forest products and a place for recreation. Deborah Goard, UNH Extension Educator – Forest Resources, along with statewide UNH Forestry and Wildlife Program Extension Specialists, work closely with many different local, state and federal organizations to provide assistance to private forestland owners and communities in a scientifically based approach to managing their natural resources.

New Hampshire Forest

The Extension Educator for Forestry and Wildlife is available to provide the following services to landowners and communities in Strafford County:

One on one on-site visits with landowners on private and community forests to provide recommendations for management of forestland for timber, wildlife and the protection of our natural resources

Educational workshops for forestland owners, homeowners, communities and non profit groups
Assistance with NRCS cost-share programs that fall under WHIP and EQIP
Information on land protection such as Conservation Easements
Assistance to communities and homeowners for urban trees
Referrals to licensed foresters and certified loggers
Forestry and wildlife publications
