The Coverts Project trains volunteers to promote wildlife habitat conservation and sound forest stewardship.

Focus area: rural parts of NH

Who Should Apply? Landowners, community decision-makers, and those with an interest in wildlife and habitat management.

Natural Resources Stewards

Natural Resources Stewards trains volunteers to develop a comprehensive understanding of natural resources stewardship, from awareness to activism through a wide variety of environmental topics.

Focus area: SE and central regions of NH

Who Should Apply? Community members with a broad interest in natural resources, including water, sustainable living, ecological landscaping, climate change and energy use, and other topics.


Other Volunteer Projects in the UNH Cooperative Extension Forestry & Wildlife Program
  • Speaking for Wildlife - Coverts Cooperators & Natural Resource Stewards providing public talks in their communities on wildlife, habitats, sound land stewardship, and other natural history topics!
  • NH Big Tree Program - volunteers locate and confirm sightings of the most outstanding examples of the various tree species which grow in New Hampshire.
  • Energy Answers - trained volunteers help answer a hotline, answering questions about energy use.
  • Invasive Plant Outreach Group - volunteers working to educate the public about invasive plants through a focus on research and practical applications.
