Care Connection

The UNH Cooperative Extension Nutrition Connections staff, through an agreement with the New Hampshire Department of Education, Bureau of Nutrition Programs and Services, will be providing a series of nutrition lessons to Tier I day care providers. They will provide this important and essential nutrition and food safety education using the CARE Connection program. The CARE Connection program was developed by the National Food Service Management Institute at the University of Mississippi in 1999, and is being used nationally by child care providers, especially those who are participating in the Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP).

The goals of the CARE Connection training provided by Nutrition Connections staff are:

  • Help sponsors meet the training needs of caregivers through the use of small group training sessions in day care centers and homes.

  • Provide caregivers in centers and homes basic information about nutrition and food safety which is age-appropriate.

  • Promote healthful food habits for young children and their families, through a four-part series.
