How do we change kids eating habits?

Some NH schools have worked hard to change the way their students snack with help from Changing the Scene NH. If you would like to contact those schools, email Martha Judson.

Vending machines

Many schools want to change what is sold in their vending machines. Action for Healthy Kids New Hampshire created nutrition guidelines for NH school vending machines. Scroll to Recommended Nutrition Guidelines for Vending and Other Foods Sold at School.

Classroom rewards

Teachers and students enjoy using classroom rewards, which are usually food. The Center for Science in the Public Interest has suggestions to help change the rewards. Scroll to Constructive Classroom Rewards under the Improve School Foods heading.

Food Recommendations for Schools

The Institute of Medicine released a report in 2007 of recommendations for foods offered in schools.
