Natural Resources Stewards Program-Sustaining Ecosystems in NH Communities

The Natural Resources Stewards Program is an innovative approach to the stewardship of natural resources within NH's urban and community ecosystems. At the heart of the program are citizen volunteers, trained through the Natural Resources Steward Course, who volunteer in their communities in over 40 project areas that strengthen communities, promote social change, and enhance urban and community ecosystems.

Open to all, the Natural Resources stewards class emphasizes hands-on, experiential learning both indoors and in the field. Participants gain a comprehensive understanding of natural resources stewardship from awareness to activism through topics including: 1. Do you want to learn more about NH's environment and how you can help in your community? The Natural Resources Stewards Program may be for you! Natural Resouce Stewards have volunteered in over 40 different natural resources-related areas including:   The Natural Resources Stewards Program is sponsored through a unique partnership of NH agencies responsible for protecting and managing the state's natural resources including:

  • Helping people reduce energy use

  • Discovering endangered species
 
  • USDA Natural Resources Conservation Districts
  • Raising awareness concerning invasive species (through IPOG)
 
  • NH County Conservation Districts
  • Writing and publishing articles
 
  • Great Bay Community College
  • Developing community gardens and landscapes

  • Delivering educational programs to adults and children including Speaking for Wildlife
