Public Comment Period Open for Second Draft of Good Forestry in the Granite State
Landowners, natural resource professionals, municipal officials and others are invited to comment on the second draft of New Hampshire's keystone forest management document: Good Forestry in the Granite State: Recommended Voluntary Forest Management Practices for New Hampshire.
This is the second proposed draft for the Good Forestry document. A first draft was presented last fall. 150 landowners, foresters, loggers and others commented on the first draft, which led to a second revision of the document.
Visit www.goodforestry.org and click the link to review and comment on the second draft. Comments on the draft may be submitted online using a comment box at the end of each chapter, submitted via email to karen.bennett@unh.edu, or mailed to Karen Bennett, 131 Main Street, 210 Nesmith Hall, Durham, NH, 03824.

Comments on the second draft will be accepted until April 15, 2010.
The second draft of Good Forestry also will be presented as one item on the agenda at the spring New Hampshire Timberland Owners Association Timber Talks. The public is welcome to attend these discussions. All programs run from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.:
April 6 –The North Country Resource Center (UNH Cooperative Extension, Fish and Game, NH Division of Forest & Lands) 629 Main Street, Lancaster
April 7 – USFS White Mountain National Forest Headquarters, 71 White Mountain Drive, Campton
April 8 – Fox State Forest, 309 Center Road, Hillsborough
