If you are new to GPS, the best workshop to start with is GPS Basics (3 hours).

This workshop will spell out the basics of GPS, provide hands-on practice with handheld GPS units, and will allow you to select additional GPS skills for you to pursue.

Depending on your interests, the three other workshops would be the logical next step(s):

Various GPS skill levels - looking for project-based course for applied GPS work
project based GIS

 

Four of our workshops focus on applied GPS and provide an opportunity for participants to develop their own mapping projects.

 
Relevant workshops:

Community Mapping is a 10-day workshop offered for 2 credits (undergraduate and gradute) each summer at the University of New Hampshire in Durham, NH. A mapping project plan is developed with instructor during during the first week, and the second week is spent developing the project.

GIS/GPS Boot Camp is a 5-day workshop offered for each summer at the University of New Hampshire in Durham, NH. Participants have the opportunity to apply what they learn throughout the week on short mapping project.

GIS for Community Decision Makers is a 12-week workshop offered during selected years in the fall or spring. A mapping project plan is developed with instructor during during the first month, and the remainder of the course is spent developing the project.

GIS for Field Scientists is a 7-day workshop offered for 2 credits (undergraduate and graduate) during selected summers at the Shoals Marine Laboratory on Appledore Island off the coast of NH. For the mapping project, participants are paired with on-going faculty and student research projects taking place on the island.
