We provide practical education to people of all ages. Our name is derived from the partnership structure that combines federal, state and county funding. This "cooperative" effort ensures that all people have local access to their state university and the knowledge and resources available to address their needs and problems. Our principal partner is the University of New Hampshire. As a state land-grant university, UNH is charged by Congress to conduct resident instruction, research and outreach to people beyond the classroom. Strafford County is also an essential partner, and our office is within the Strafford County complex in Dover.
Some examples of our local and state efforts include: 4-H clubs and events, parenting programs, monitoring water quality in our lakes and rivers, collaborative efforts to sustain marine fisheries, aquaculture, reducing the use of pesticides, community collaborations to meet the needs of youth, improving health through media literacy in families and youth, consumer issues, land use management, nutrition education, food safety, forest stewardship, insuring financial security in later years, meeting the needs of low-income families, and strengthening our communities through the Community Profile process.
