Info Line Question of the Week - April 1, 2013

Q. I have vegetable seed packets left over from last year. Can I still plant the seeds?

A. Most kinds of vegetable seeds remain viable for more than one year, so often you can save money by using seeds from old packets. To find out if seeds are still good, you can do a simple germination test. For each packet of seeds you want to test, moisten (don’t soak) a couple of sheets of paper towel with water. You can use a spray bottle if you have one.
