The 2010-2011 New England Vegetable Management
The 2010-2011 New England Vegetable Management Guide is now available. The New England Vegetable Management Guide is a comprehensive guide for commercial vegetable growers with information on current production and pest management techniques. This manual is collaborative effort of members of the Extension Vegetable Programs of the Universities of Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, Connecticut, and Massachusetts.

Introductory sections cover:
- General cultural practices for vegetables, including soil fertility and nutrients, soil management, cover crops, organic production, raised beds, irrigation, and much more.
- Pest management topics that are important on all vegetable crops, including weed, insect and disease management, integrated pest management, efficacy tables, biological controls and lower-risk pesticides, and pesticide safety.
- A comprehensive guide to greenhouse vegetable transplant production.
The main part of the guide is organized by crop. Under each crop, you will find recommended cultural practices, varieties and nutrient recommendations, along with specific information on management of weeds, insects and diseases for that crop or crop group.
The Pest Identification Photo Supplement provides color photographs of all the weeds, insects,diseases and non-pathogenic disorders that are mentioned in this Guide. The Supplement is also available online as a downloadable file.

Members of the NH Vegetable and Berry Growers’ Association have the option of getting a copy of the guide for free, as a benefit of membership. Copies may be obtained for $15.00 from most county Agricultural Resources Extension Educators or by contacting Becky Sideman. The guide is updated every two years by New England Extension personnel and research scientists.
