The 2009 Healthy Eating and Active Living (HEAL) conference took place Oct. 6 at the Grappone Conference Center in Concord.

Promising Practices for Healthy Eating and Active Living in Our State and Communities featured the roll-out of the HEALnh.org Web site with links that include You and Your Family, You and Your Community and a Quick Links section of resources on healthy eating and active living. The HEAL Web site was developed by UNH Cooperative Extension through a grant from HNHfoundation.

Dr. Joseph W. Thompson, director of Arkansas Center for Health Improvement and Arkansas Surgeon General, delivered the keynote: The Role of Public Policy in Obesity Prevention. Dr. Susan Lynch provided comments, along with her support for this statewide initiative’s efforts to address and reduce incidence of overweight and obesity in New Hampshire.
