Slow down?

Driven to distraction by technology (Ina Fried, CNet News.com, 7/21/2005)
The typical office worker is interrupted every three minutes by a phone call, e-mail, instant message or other distraction. The problem is that it takes about eight uninterrupted minutes for our brains to get into a really creative state.

Ohboy! The distractions go way beyond telehones and computer devices. Here in Merrimack County, where we play host to meetings nearly every day,I get all the sound effects from the bathrooms and water fountain across the hall from my office.
I get much more accomplished when I work at home. I close the door in my the tiny,insulated attic and sink my mind into writing and editing work for hours without distraction. I never find myself tempted to descend into the domestic chaos below.I don't have to pack a lunch, take a shower, fix my hair, or put on respectable office attire, which gives me more early-hours work time when I'm at my most alert and productive
