Creating PDFs

If you have the full version of Adobe Acrobat, you can create a new PDF from any document by printing to the Adobe PDF Driver from any application. Additionally, Acrobat installs some toolbar buttons in Microsoft Word which allow you to create a PDF from a document by clicking on the button. What's the difference between the two?
