Class Schedule
Setting Up InDesign - Getting it Right
10:00 to 11:00 A.M.
Many people taking this class will be coming from all different backgrounds and levels of understanding. Some will be very used to the desktop publishing workflows of the past while others will be fairly new to InDesign. In this first class we'll get everyone on the same page, get our preferences set, and hone the application to perform at its best.
Unleash Your Creativity - Working with Images
11:15 A.M. to 12:15 P.M.
As I always say, "when it comes to page layout, it's all about laying out text and images." In this class we'll go from the beginning to the end learn all the ways to not only layout images on the page, but to take advantage of InDesign's transparency and effects, cropping, round tripping between Photoshop and Illustrator as well as working with native Photoshop and Illustrator files. We'll also learn creative ways of creating image frames as well as time saving techniques to get your images laid out as quickly and accurately as possible.
LUNCH BREAK
12:15 to 1:15 P.M.
Mastering Text
1:15 to 2:30 P.M.
Handling text is where InDesign really excels over all other page layout apps. In this class we'll really explore the power of InDesign's text handling capabilities. We'll learn about InDesign's text frame linking, kerning, tracking, justification settings as well as editing, use of the Story Editor and updating placed content.
Essential Techniques of the Pros
2:45 to 3:45 P.M.
Now that we've gotten our feet wet with InDesign, it's time to dive even deeper in this class. We'll explore more of InDesign's power with Object Styles, long document features, master page secrets, anchored objects and much more. Also learn about setting your documents up properly to cause your output house less headaches as well as pre-flighting your documents to find and fix common mistakes.
Advanced Tips & Tricks
4:00 to 5:00 P.M.
In this last class of the day we'll learn some time saving tips and tricks that will really make InDesign® fly. We'll take a look at some of the less discoverable aspects of InDesign that you'll want to know so that you can dramatically boost your productivity when you get back to business.
