**Save The Date!**Coverts Alumni Reunion & Workshop, Saturday June 21st, 2008, Gilmanton, NH
Mark your calendars for this special day with friends and fellow-wildlife enthusiasts from the Coverts Project! Plan on a fun-filled day, hiking in the heart of the Belknap Mountain Range in Gilmanton, NH. We'll be hosted by Coverts Cooperator Nanci Mitchell (CC02) at the property she and her husband Charlie own, manage, and have recently conserved. The focus will be on fun and hiking, but we'll also have a chance to learn about the wildlife, forestry and conservation practices undertaken on the property in recent years, and also hear about plans for future projects. Weather cooperating, you'll also be treated to great views from a mountaintop picnic spot. Families and friends are welcome - plan on gentle hikes and a picnic lunch with great views of the Lakes Region. More information to follow!
Volunteer Opportunities
Lamprey River Inventory Seeks Volunteers
For Coverts folks and other interested volunteers in the Seacoast region, the Lamprey River Watershed Committee is organizing a “Streamwalk” volunteer inventory of the Lamprey River in Strafford and Rockingham Counties. They are looking for 60+ volunteers to look for invasive plants, trash, erosion, and other landscape features and threats. Two training sessions are scheduled:
Monday, June 2 at Epping Fire Station, 6 – 9 p.m.
Wednesday, June 4 at Lee Safety Complex, Bennett Road, Lee, 6 – 9 p.m.

NH Dragonfly Survey - training workshops scheduled
NH Audubon is sponsoring more dragonfly & damselfly survey work this year, and you can get in on the action by attending one of the three training workshops planned for this spring! They are scheduled for:Friday May 23 in Hancock
Saturday May 24 in Auburn
Monday June 2 in Albany

New Hampshire Carbon Challenge Presenters Workshop
UNH Cooperative Extension is co-sponsoring a second training workshop on May 31st in Hancock, for volunteers interested in doing outreach about energy efficiency and greenhouse gas emission reductions at the household level. Moose Mountain Event Seeks Coverts Volunteers on August 2Moose Mountain Regional Greenways is looking for 2-4 Coverts Cooperators to work in 2-3 hour shifts between 10 am - 3 pm at this annual event at Branch Hill Farm in Milton
Mills, NH. This fun, educational celebration of the natural world features interactive educational activities, hayrides, guided nature walks, live music and more. Identifying Natural Communities - May 21, Deerfield
This advanced workshop (aimed at natural resource professionals, but also appropriate for trained Coverts Cooperators) will focus on recognizing, identifying, and appreciating natural communities. The program will offer an indoor overview in the morning, followed by the rest of the day in the field at Pawtuckaway State Park. Instructors will be staff from the NH Natural Heritage Bureau, who published the guide "Natural Communities of New Hampshire" in 2004. Cost is $25.
