Coverts Folks,

Just back from the 2009 Coverts Project Workshop!  As always, it was a wonderful group of enthusiastic, curious, and dedicated folks.  We had a great time, lots of laughs, and good weather (whew).  Welcome to the 23 new Coverts volunteers!

As always, this announcement will be posted online at:  Volunteers Working for Wildlife.

I just found out about a special event this coming weekend.  Larry Ely (CC98) and his wife Ginger Lawson recently donated an easement on their land in Shelburne, NH to the Mahoosic Land Trust.  The Trust is holding a celebration in the town, including hikes up the First Mountain Forest (Larry and Ginger's mountainside property).  As Larry reports, "Fall color should be at peak above the Notches," so it should be a great time of year to see the place!

An article about the easement and celebration was published in the Lewiston Sun Journal last week and can be viewed at  http://www.sunjournal.com/node/282477/_

Here are the details, from Larry:
---------------------
Coverts Cooperators are invited to join in a celebration of a conservation easement placed on Covert Cooperator Larry Ely's (CC-98) First Mountain Forest in Shelburne, NH on Saturday, October 3.  Coos County Cooperators enjoyed a Winter Wildlife Workshop on the property several winters ago. The invitation below from the Mahoosuc Land Trust includes details. Fall color should be at peak above the "Notches". Short hikes are from Noon to 2 PM and a celebration and refreshments follow at 2 PM at the town's Chester Hayes Memorial Park adjacent to Town Hall. RSVP requested from hikers.
