Coverts Workshop Instructor Wins National Honor
Long-time Coverts Project instructor Wayne Young (consulting forester for the Harris Center for Conservation Education) won the National Tree Farm Inspector award. Two days after helping teach the new 2009 Coverts workshop participants, Wayne traveled to Washington D.C. to receive the award. Click here to read a recent article about him, published in the Keene Sentinel. Congratulations Wayne!
New Coverts Cooperators Featured in “Forest Notes”
After the recent Coverts training, I came home and opened my copy of the Forest Society’s “Forest Notes” magazine. And what did I find? A 2-page article highlighting a conservation easement donation by Tom Woodward, who I had just met at the Coverts Workshop! It’s a great story - You can read it online here (it’s on p. 30-31). Oh, and the Forest Society member featured on the back of the same issue? None other than Coverts Cooperator Sue Lichty (CC07) of Lempster. Nice work!
Coverts Project Annual Survey
If you haven’t already taken the 2009 Coverts Project survey (newest class of volunteers are exempt – it’s just those trained before this year), please take a few minutes to fill it out online. The deadline is October 31st – I look forward to hearing from you by then! Click here to access the online Coverts Survey.
