UNH Cooperative Extension - Strafford County

The 4-H Youth Development Educational Program Coordinator in Strafford County works with 200 volunteers who conduct 4-H Clubs and other 4-H programs. School groups, home schoolers, after school providers and other youth serving organizations also ask for and receive training in 4-H curricula and positive youth development.

Agricultural Resources in Strafford County provides research based education and information to agricultural businesses to assist them in being economically and environmentally sustainable in their operations. The program provides current research based gardening information and education to home owners and coordinates the Master Gardener volunteer program throughout the county.

The Family & Consumer Resources program area includes human development and parenting education, healthy lifestyles/nutrition and wellness, financial management, and food safety. Collaborating with other organizations, agencies, schools, and groups is a key component in effectively reaching the largest number of people in Strafford County. The Public Value of these programs is high, as everyone in the community benefits from competent food safety practices and families who are stronger because of increased assets, healthy living choices, and well balanced children.

Forestry and Wildlife Resources for UNH Cooperative Extension, Strafford County provides technical assistance and outreach education to the landowners, natural resources professionals, and municipalities of Strafford County, New Hampshire in forestry, wildlife, and conservation.

Nutrition Connections provides life-skills education in nutrition, food shopping & budgeting, food safety, and physical fitness to limited-income adults, families, and youth. Our goal is to improve health, economic security, and well being.
