ServSafe Food Protection Certification Course and Examination
(09:00 AM - 05:00 PM)
This course follows the flow of food throughout an establishment. Participants will learn what conditions enhance the growth of bacteria that causes food borne illnesses along with the safest way to receive, store, prepare, cook and serve food for their customers. Practical information on training staff is included. At the end of the course, the National Restaurant Association ServSafe certification exam will be administered (approximately 3:30 p.m.). Some studying on your own time will be necessary. The course will be taught by Nancy Bradford-Sisson, Certified ServSafe Instructor. Registration form here.

GIS on Pennies a Day

Learn GIS basics and explore a variety of GIS programs you can get for little or no cost (for PC’s and Macs)! This course is useful for people who have no prior GIS experience and GIS users interested in low cost options. The GIS world has experienced an explosion of free and inexpensive programs that allow users to make maps, edit data and preform geographic analysis without breaking the bank. In this workshop, participants will have a chance to get their feet wet with numerous free and low cost GIS programs, learning the pros and cons of each. We will also cover GIS basics, common types of GIS data, and getting GIS data in NH.

Emerging Forest Pests - What Towns Neeed to Know to Protect Their Forests

Join staff from the New Hampshire Division of Forest & Lands and Cheshire County UNH Cooperative Extension for an in depth session covering the forest pests threatening our region's forests and urban trees. The Asian longhorned beetle, emerald ash borer and hemlock wooly adelgid will be discussed and attendants will have the opportunity to view real samples of these insects and the damage they cause to trees. This session is tailored for town employees and those working on public lands but the public is welcome to attend.
Who Should Attend: town officials, public works, recreation departments, land managers, fire wardens and conservation commissions.
