Field Crop Meetings
(Thursday 11/05/2009 - 09:30 AM - 02:15 PM)

Making the most of homegrown forages and feeds – Featured Speaker, Tom Kilcer, Certified Crop Advisor and retired Field Crop Agent, Cornell Cooperative Extension, will present information on the role of forages as part of a whole-farm management system. This includes marrying the specific crops, production methods and storage techniques to the farm’s goals, livestock, equipment, environmental conditions and cash flow. By adopting forage systems that are right for their operations, farmers can realize improved farm profitability. Tom will also present information on the production of alternative forage crops that perform well in the northeast.

Larry Jones, PhD, American Field Products, will give an overview of silage inoculants and Art Graves of Mycogen Seeds, will discuss corn hybrid selection.
