Tree Appraisal Workshop
(Wednesday 11/04/2009 - 08:30 AM - 04:30 PM)
Trees have value - as landscape components, in plantations and orchards, or as timber. Their value is a function of a variety of factors, and often must be estimated by professional appraisers.
The Council of Tree and Landscape Appraisers (CTLA), comprised of delegates from the arboriculture, nursery, tree care, and consulting forestry professions, maintains and updates guidelines on plant appraisal, with a focus ontrees. The current "bible" for tree appraisers is CTLA's 9th edition of the Guide for Plant Appraisal. The 10th edition is in the process of being written and there are some significant changes anticipated.
We have two speakers, one who has been involved in this re?write, and both who bring deep experience to bear on the subject of tree appraisal in both landscape and natural settings. They will cover fundamental concepts of cost and value, how plant appraisal relates to real estate appraisal, approaches and methods for appraising plant and landscape features, how to apply tests of reasonableness, report writing, ethics, and standards. This practical course will include case studies addressing tree appraisal in landscape settings, plantations, and native or natural settings. We welcome you to join us and get ahead of the wave.
