Safety Awareness in the Food Environment

S.A.F.E. reviews critical food safety and sanitation concepts such as personal hygiene, preventing cross contamination, and controlling time and temperature. S.A.F.E. workshops provide food safety training for new employees and refresher information for more experienced staff. The 2 hour workshop uses practical discussion and hands-on demonstrations to help participants apply safe food handling practices in the workplace. SAFE participants receive fact sheets and a certificate of attendance.

ServSafe Food Managers Certification Course and Exam

This one-day course follows the flow of food throughout an establishment.  Participants will learn what conditions enhance the growth of bacteria that causes food borne illnesses along with the safest way to receive, store, prepare, cook and serve food for their customers.  Practical information on training staff is included.  At the end of the course, the national ServSafe exam will be administered.  Some studying on your own time will be necessary.

 

Registration is required at least 2 weeks prior to the start of class to allow time to receive and study the ServSafe book.

Participants will learn how foodborne bacteria contaminate food and the safest way to receive, store, prepare, cook and serve food for their customers.

Participants are expected to study the ServSafe Manager coursebook prior to class. At the end of the course, the national ServSafe certification exam will be administered. Participants passing the exam with a grade of 75% or higher will receive ServSafe® Food Safety Certification from NRAEF. Certification is valid for five years.
