NH 4-H Horse Judging and Hippology Contests
(All day)

The NH 4-H Horse Judging and Hippology Contests are two separate contests. The Horse Judging contest allows members to demonstrate their ability to judge conformation and performance classes of horses and later present oral reasons to explain their placings (reasons division only).

The Hippology Contest is a comprehensive contest of equine knowlege involving a written test, practical exam, problem solving, equipment identification, and horse judging. Juniors (ages 12-13 participate as individuals) and seniors (ages 14-18) participate in county teams (those without a county team will be placed with members from other counties).

Junior Hippology contestants may, if desired, participate in the non-reasons judging contest. Seniors must chose either horse judging or hippology.

Qualified seniors placing in the top 8 in both contests may be chosen to represent NH at the NE Regional 4-H Horse contest and the Eastern National 4-H Horse Roundup.

There will be a county sponsored Novice Hippologe event for members ages 8-11. More information will be announced.
