ECP Program Sign-Ups Extended for Cheshire and Sullivan County Producers
Pamela Marvin, Executive Director for USDA’s Farm Service Agency for Cheshire & Sullivan Counties, announced that signup for the Emergency Conservation Program (ECP) will be extended through August 7, 2009. This program provides cost-share assistance to those producers who experienced damage due to the ice storm in December 2008.
ECP is a cost-share program which can help maple producers with debris removal in their maple orchards or who had to repair or replace damaged taps and/or tubing. There are also practices to help producers who experienced damage to their livestock fencing and/or debris on their farmland which impedes the harvesting of a crop.
For more information on signing up for cost-share assistance, contact the local FSA office in Walpole at 756-2970 or the Cooperative Extension Forester for Cheshire County, Steve Roberge, at 352-4550.
