Learn the basics of GIS and how to make maps with your own and statewide data using free GIS software!

Participants will learn:
where to get free GIS data in NH
how to make GIS maps using free software
display spreadsheet data on a GIS map


This workshops is designed for people with no GIS experience, but will be valuable as well to people with some GIS experience that are looking to explore free GIS software options.

Learn how to create interactive Google Earth or GIS maps using cameras and handheld GPS units! This workshop covers the process of collecting and linking digital photos to GPS points.


Participants will learn to:

match pictures with GPS points

create interactive maps in Google Earth


GPS Basics is the first of the series, and is strongly suggested before taking Picture, Points & Places . Personal familiarity with the use of handhled GPS units or a previous GPS course with UNH Cooperative Extension can substitute for GPS Basics.

This course covers the basic cocepts of GPS technology and how to use GPS to navigate and collect data in the field.
