These workshop materials cover the use of co-occurrence analysis, both simple and weighted, for compositing a variety of data layers to make important natural resource and societal decisions.
These materials also cover a variety of techniques for mapping and analyzing habitat types, including the Landscape Fragmentation tool developed at University of Connecticut and the Habitat Priority Planner developed by the NOAA Coastal Services Center.
A wide variety of GIS data layers are used in the analyses, but the exercises focus on land cover, conservation lands, conservation priority areas and the NH Wildlife Action Plan.
The workshop materials consist of the workshop manual (PDF), the presentations (PPT) and the data folders and files.
The manual contains the following sections:
1. Simple Co-occurrence (using raster calculator)
2. Weighted Co-occurrence (using weighted overlay)
3. Landscape Fragmentation Tool
4. Habitat Priority Planner
