GPS & You I: GPS Basics

GPS & You I: GPS Basics

Learn everything you ever wanted to know about how to use a handheld GPS receiver! These materials are designed for people with no GPS experience, or basic GPS users who want to learn more about this ever more important technology. GPS & You I: GPS Basics is the first of the series (followed by GPS II: Pictures, Points & Places and GPS III: Tracks & Routes).

GPS I covers the basics of GPS technology, how to collect waypoints and how to navigate to points you have collected. Introductory presentations explain the technology behind GPS, while the exercises go into details about the use of handheld GPS receivers.

The workshop materials consist of the workshop manual (PDF) and the presentations (PPT).

The manual contains the following sections:

     1. Garmin 76 Unit Basics
     2. Garmin 76 Setup
     3. Waypoint Navigation
