GPS & You I: GPS Basics

GPS I covers the basics of GPS technology, how to collect waypoints and how to navigate to points you have collected. Introductory presentations explain the technology behind GPS, while the exercises go into details about the use of handheld GPS receivers. GPS & You I: GPS Basics is the first of the series (followed by GPS II: Pictures, Points & Places and GPS III: Tracks & Routes).

GPS & You II: Pictures, Points & Places

GPS II covers downloading GPS data from your GPS unit on to your computer for use in GIS programs and Google Earth. In addition, the materials cover the collection of digital photos in conjunction with GPS points, providing an interactive map of your pictures in GIS and Google Earth. GPS & You I: GPS Basics is the first of the series (followed by GPS II: Pictures, Points & Places and GPS III: Tracks & Routes).

GPS & You III: Tracks & Routes

GPS III covers more sophisticated navigation and data collection. After a brief orientation to tracks and routes, the workshop materials focus on learning to collect tracks (including lines and areas) and to navigate along previously collected tracks (lines) and routes (a series of points). Trimble Mission Planning software is also discussed. GPS & You I: GPS Basics is the first of the series (followed by GPS II: Pictures, Points & Places and GPS III: Tracks & Routes).
