Stanley Swier
Extension Professor/Specialist, Entomology


Biography

Stan received his B.S. at Syracuse University, his M.S. at Northern Arizona University, and his Ph.D. at Ohio State University. He resides in the Department of Plant Biology He has been at UNH since 1978 and has several roles. He coordinates the UNHCE Pesticide Education Program which oversees the training of 1000 private pesticide applicators and the dissemination of pesticide safety information. He is also an entomologist in forestry, turf, and ornamentals, conducting research and extension programs in the area of Integrated Pest Management and sustainable crop production.


Current Research
  • Development of integrated pest management programs and sustainable strategies for turf , ornamentals, and forestry.

  • Efficacy and application methodology of biopesticides, biorational pesticides, and reduced risk conventional pesticides on insects of turf, ornamentals, and Christmas trees.
