Chuck Hersey
Extension Educator, Forest Resources & County Office Co-Administrator


 

Chuck’s primary responsibilities as a forest resource educator are to help promote forest resource conservation through public education and to advise landowners on forest management, including forest stewardship planning, wildlife habitat management, invasive plants, current use assessment, forestry cost-sharing, community resource-based conservation, forest trails and more.
 
Chuck also holds workshops, field days, short courses, and informational meetings, provides education about federal cost-sharing programs, promotes the N.H. Tree Farm Program and delivers volunteer training for the Extension Wildlife Coverts Cooperators Program.



Biography

 

Chuck joined the UNH Cooperative Extension Sullivan County office in January 2005. Prior to joining the Sullivan County staff, he worked for the Massachusetts Forest Stewardship Program. His duties included technical and administrative support for an extensive landowner outreach initiative, adminster state and federal cost-share programs, maintain a Geographic Information Systems (GIS) database of stewardship properties, review of management and harvesting plans for adherence to state regulations and workshops for landowners. Chuck also worked on the state forest lands in Massachusetts implementing silvicultural prescriptions and setting up silvicultural research demonstration areas.
