4-H Youth Development -
The 4-H Youth Development provides opportunities for Belknap County youth 5 – 18 years. Volunteers mentored young people in projects of interest. Using the “learn by doing” model, young people improve project and life skills including public speaking, parliamentary procedures, leadership development, and an appreciation of community through service projects. Global Positioning Systems, Aerospace, and Animal & Plant Science programs are delivered to encourage young people to apply science, engineering, and technology principles and practices in their everyday lives, provide post-secondary educational and career oriented direction.
Agricultural Resources -
The Food and Agriculture program in Belknap County provides research-based information on soil health, integrated pest management, fruit and vegetable crops, pasture and forage production, dairy and livestock, and ornamental and landscape production.
Community Development staff work with local communities to enhance skills of leaders, improve local decision-making, engage the public in pursuing a common vision, and improve the economy. The following is a list of program offerings:

The Natural Resources program provides education to citizens, natural resource professionals and municipalities. Assistance to forest landowners regarding land stewardship and management of forest resources continues to be the primary program objective. Information is delivered through programs, site visits, telephone calls, and group educational meetings, walk-ins, telephone and email.
Nutrition Connections helps people living in or near poverty acquire the knowledge and skills needed to improve diets, increase physical activity and to make better use of food dollars. Education is provided in groups or individualized settings in the areas of nutrition, physical activity, weight control, food preparation, food resource management, and food safety. Nutrition Connections also works with schools that meet income criteria.
