Members of the UNH Student Planning Organization worked with Casey Hancock, Extension Community Development Program Coordinator, to conduct an assessment of Somersworth’s downtown assets and opportunities for improvement.
The Planning Club has been working on this project all year. Finally, this week, they got to present their findings to the Somersworth City Council. Council members were very happy with the report and were particularly interested to hear that the attributes that senior citizens are looking for in a downtown are the very same attributes that young people want.
“The key is to make the downtown a place where all people want to be”, said Mason Twombly, a UNH Cooperative Extension intern and Planning Club President who worked on the project.
