Alleva Invited to Lead Social, Emotional and Mindful Learning Training for U.S. Army Program

SEML Training Will Benefit the Army's School Age Care Programs Directors

Rick Alleva, Ed.D., Extension Field Specialist on the Youth & Family Team and Youth & Family Area of Expertise, has been invited to lead Social, Emotional and Mindful Learning (SEML) training for school age care programs managed by the U.S. Army on over 100 bases nationally. Rick will present and facilitate a series of small workshops and dialogue sessions with program directors who work across the country during their week-long conference at the Shades of Green Hotel in Orlando, Fla., on Feb. 6-9.

Denise A. Faison, the U.S. Army School Age Care (SAC) program manager, reached out to Rick after participating in a workshop he led at the National Afterschool Association convention last March in Dallas, Texas. Faison felt that the presentation there on Social, Emotional and Mindful Learning Afterschool was exactly what her programs for children and youth on Army bases across the country needed. Rick is honored for the invitation and hopes to assist with some follow-up and will report back after the conference experience.
