This position is based out of UNH Extension’s Sullivan County Office, Newport, NH, and is focused on developing and delivering programs designed to foster the behavioral health and wellness of New Hampshire families and older adults. The position is a part of the Youth and Family Resilience Area of Expertise Team and works in close collaboration with other UNH Extension staff and local community partners. Responsibilities include developing, implementing, and evaluating community-based programs targeting the needs of vulnerable adults and families. Specific efforts will include providing professional development for practitioners and community volunteers as well as technical assistance to organizations and coalitions. This position may also be appointed in the future to serve as the County Office Administrator for UNH Extension in Sullivan County, which would be a 20% appointment with a stipend (programmatic workload will be reduced to accommodate this appointment).
- Master’s degree in an appropriate discipline (e.g., human development, social work, counseling, or education) and two years of applicable experience. Note: a strong candidate with a Bachelor’s degree and five years of applicable experience may be considered if they are willing to obtain a Master’s degree within 7 years of hire (tuition credit available).
- Experience developing educational programs, trainings, and/or technical assistance to support the behavioral health of families and/or older adults.
- Ability to reflect thoughtfully on personal bias in order to be welcoming to all potential participants and commitment to reaching underserved or underrepresented audiences.

- Community-based Youth and Family Resilience (YFR) program development: in partnership with YFR team members, assess community needs, establish priorities and then develop, implement and evaluate research-based community programs focused on building the resilience of NH families, including older adults. Programs can include direct education for participants, professional development for practitioners, and system-level change strategies for organizations or coalitions. Topics can include mental health, substance use prevention, mindfulness, building protective factors, chronic pain management, trauma-informed work, and family education and support. (40%)
- Program collaboration: Support adult and family behavioral health and wellness work of Extension teams, partner organizations, coalitions the state of NH, schools, and UNH colleagues. Collaborations are statewide with a particular focus on Sullivan County partners. (35%)
- Resource development: Build capacity and funding for Extension YFR programming. Efforts could include grant writing, developing fee-for-service work, securing contracts, and/or soliciting donors. (10%)
- Professional Development: Identify individual professional development goals and seek training in subject area expertise and essential skills (5%)
- Other duties as assigned: Includes projects or committee work as needed. Includes Sullivan County Extension office work (e.g., engage with Advisory Council, engage local legislators/stakeholders, and participate in staff meetings and projects). (10%)
