This is a part-time (20 hours per week), non-benefitted position located at the UNH Extension Education Center in Goffstown, N.H. The program assistant oversees the administrative functions of UNH Extension’s Pesticide Safety Education program and supports the administrative needs of the Education Center.

Duties and Responsibilities
Educational Program Support 
  • Provide support in administrative and office matters for the Cooperative Extension Pesticide Safety Education Program by performing varied office and program support functions, while using independent judgment, problem-solving skills and initiative.
  • Provide primary administrative support for the Pesticide Safety Education Program and ensure excellent customer service.
  • Serve as an important contact for program information, material requests, event information and registrations, and specialist referrals.
  • Compose, prepare and manage support for classes, workshops and conferences (producing brochures and displays, managing registrations, processing payments, coordinating facility rentals, etc.).
  • Manage inventory of training materials, including managing orders, payments and shipping.
  • Communicate information of educational programs and events using website calendars and posts, digital newsletters and other means including social media.
  • Establish/coordinate electronic record management systems for complex and sensitive information, including contact lists and program budget.

Administrative Support to Education Center 
  • Provide general office support for administrative needs for the Education Center by performing varied office and program support functions, while using independent judgment, problem-solving skills, and initiative.
  • Sort and route mail to appropriate persons and prepare outgoing mail.
  • Coordinate general office management activities (maintain office equipment inventory and supplies, seek assistance for repair when necessary, manage sign out of shared equipment, etc.).

Professional Development
  • Develop and implement a professional development plan to maintain and enhance competence in appropriate areas such as office and task management, software use, etc. as supported by supervisor. Actively participate in the Extension Assistants Team to support professional development.

Other Duties
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Acceptable Qualifications
  • High school graduate.
  • Effective communication skills; good people skills; good organization skills; good work ethic; excellent writing and editing skills; ability to work independently, identify priorities and implement multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of office practices, procedures and use of computer and electronic equipment including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Efficient time management as well as excellent oral and written communication skills.
  •  Must have a valid driver’s license and be willing to travel for work. Mileage will be reimbursed at the current federal rate. (standard wording, if applicable).

Additional Preferred Qualifications
  • Knowledge of or experience working in the fields of agriculture, plants or insects would be a plus.
  • Knowledge of Salesforce, Microsoft Access database management, Qualtrics survey software, QuickBooks, Captivate, and Destiny One or similar software systems.
  • Skills in writing/designing for web and social media.
