Beaver Brook Association Hosts Military Family Day

UNH Cooperative Extension Military Youth and Family Program (MYFP) welcomed military families to become stream scientists at the Military Family Stream Safari Day, Saturday, June 23rd, at the Beaver Brook in Hollis, NH.

Military families had fun investigating the wonders of aquatic life in a stream and pond. They tested the water’s temperature, built models of watersheds, made plankton nets, and collected macroinvertebrates! Some military kids got so excited about the activities that they mucked about in the pond waist-deep! Military families had a great time connecting with other military families and everyone enjoyed a group picnic in the barn. Backpacks, water bottles, and snacks were handed out to each family during the event. Families ended the day exploring the miles of beautiful hiking trails throughout Beaver Brook. What a great day!
