Join us for fun-filled 4-H STEM evening building and racing mousetrap powered cars!

A mousetrap car is a model car made from simple materials that is powered by a mousetrap. Mousetrap cars can be made from cardboard or balsa wood with CD’s for wheels and axles of wood or brass tubing. They are a great project to help youth learn about engineering design and conducting investigations. They are an excellent Maker project, and this event will have great potential for an exciting a design-build-race contest.

Pizza dinner provided!

Registration is required! Register for this event via 4-H Online by Friday, November 12, 2021.

This event is part of a series of Rockingham County 4-H Winter STEM events. 4‑H STEM programs provide 4‑H youth the opportunity to learn about science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM). Whether that’s exploring circuits, coding a new app, or designing an underwater drone, 4-H STEM helps youth foster their curiosity and sparks innovation. This series of winter 4-H STEM events will be a great creative, constructive, and social outlet for the youth in your family. Each event will be held at the Brentwood Extension office from 5-7pm and serve pizza.

These STEM activities are relevant and can be deliverable for any age group. However, these 4-H events will be designed to target the 8 and older age range. Children as young as 5 are welcome; however, we ask that you work directly with your “Cloverbuds” for the entirety of the event. Thank you!
