This workshop is currently full, but you can join a waitlist in the event of cancellations.

Are you fascinated by mushrooms but have no idea how to get started with identifying what kinds they are? Join mushroom enthusiast and Forest Society staffer Carrie Deegan for a fun beginner mushroom foray at the Merrimack River Outdoor Education & Conservation Area in Concord.  We’ll start inside with some basics about mushroom biology, collection and identification tips, and then head out for a walk on the Merrimack River floodplain, collecting as we go. Finally, we’ll bring all our finds back to the Conservation Center and try to identify and sort them by family.

What to Bring: Bring a basket and a pocket knife if you have one (no worries if not), and a water bottle.

Registration: Limited to 25 participants. In order to ensure this program is accessible for all, there are three registration fee options - $0, $5, or $10. Please pay what you can.

Women in the Woods is a collaboration between UNH Cooperative Extension, NH Timberland Owners Association, the Society for the Protection of New Hampshire Forests, and other partners aimed at connecting women landowners and land managers with the resources, skills, and community they need to make informed stewardship decisions that promote healthy forest resources.  For more information about Women in the Woods, visit: extension.unh.edu/womeninthewoods.

Funding for this program provided by a Landscape Scale Restoration Grant, U.S. Forest Service.
