Are you looking for ways to engage people in nature? Do you want more information about the natural resources on a property or in your community? A BioBlitz is a species scavenger hunt where volunteers help find and record data on different wild living things in a certain area for a set amount of time. These events can help build our understanding of the natural world, detect invasive species, educate community members – and they’re fun!
Join us for guidance on implementing your own BioBlitz. This training, led by UNH Extension Wildlife Conservation State Specialist Haley Andreozzi and Stewardship Outreach Program Manager Charlotte Thompson, will elaborate on topics in our new NH BioBlitz Guide. We’ll share a timeline for planning a BioBlitz, ideas for recruiting participants, and tips for a successful event.
Participants should sign up for an iNaturalist account at https://www.inaturalist.org/ and download the iNaturalist app to your phone prior to the training. If you’re interested in learning more about using iNaturalst to collect data for a BioBlitz, join us for an additional training on Thursday, November 9 – Using iNaturalist to Host a BioBlitz.
This event is free, but space is limited. Registration is required.
What to Bring: Water, notebook and appropriate clothing for time outdoors.
