4-H Fall Scarecrow Contest
Promote 4-H during National 4-H Week, October 4-10, by putting up a 4-H scarecrow in your yard.
Celebrate how much you love 4-H! Use your design to show your 4-H spirit and encourage new families to join the 4-H program. Crumpled up newspapers makes great lightweight scarecrow stuffing. Scarecrow heads can be made with a pumpkin. You can also stuff a grain bag or burlap with newspaper to make the head. Painted faces are great. Permanent markers too will do the job to draw the eyes and mouth. Use hay, pumpkins, leaves, banners. Add signs, recyclables, toys and of course the 4-H clover!
Photograph your display creation, then email Laurie Field (email@example.com) your picture no later than October 7th. Photos will be posted on-line in our Merrimack County 4-H page, where the Merrimack County 4-H community can vote for their favorite entry. The display that collects the most votes will earn a prize.
Start planning your scarecrow display now. We can't wait to see what you create!
All participants who submit a photo to Laurie Field (firstname.lastname@example.org) by the October 7th deadline will be judged on Facebook and will receive a scarecrow patch for participating!
